I have had a look at your website today. I obtained recently a copy of a booklet on the Operations of Settle Speakman & Co. Ltd. at Queenborough.
They started in 1907 and the booklet was published in 1957 to commemorate 50
years at Queenborough. They first installed a Coal Washer and Wharf on the Swale
and went on to provide wharfage and railway shunting services to the various
industries located south of the creek.
I would be interested in hearing any local memories of their operation in particular the wagons arriving to collect coal from the washer and grader for onward distribution to Kent coal merchants
